What's Up: Jan 12, 2024

I’ve been having the best time in the shop this week. I try to plan and start working on murrini a few weeks in advance. As much as I love Christmas, I’m sure glad to be working on Spring and Summer colors and ideas. I feel like my artistic chains have been removed! 🤣 This week is a moody week. Reds, blacks, and all the bold colors. No mixes this week as they are all going to be singles, but the Poppies will be a kit with frit coming along with them in your box. This week all items are made with Oceanside fusible COE 96 glass, are all singles and are 1.5 oz for $26 except for the two that have frit with them. Let’s get to the pictures!

Coming Jan. 13 at NOON Central Time:

This image above shows most of this week's flowers in one image. Tack fused lightly.

CARDINALS
! Lori Moreno from Wilderness Glass designed the cuties and shared her recipe with me. This is a big deal as it usually takes several tries to hammer out a new design and red glass is expensive...so thanks, Lori for sharing this with me! These cuties are LIGHT TACK FUSE murrini. The shape is lost quickly in too warm of temperatures, so take note of this. They snip super easy with wheeled nippers. You should be able to get around 15 little cardinal chips from each cane!

Black and White Circle Murrini.
These come in a multisize package and are perfect for all kinds of design ideas, filler, and more. I'm going to say they are best at a tack fuse, as a full fuse isn't as interesting unless you are "flip and fusing"...then they are pretty specatcular! They fit in perfectly this week in my new designs.

Flat-End Red and Black Petal: This beauty is versatile. Make the flower bigger just by adding more petals. Fill the center with pre-fused dots or frit and these are so elegant.

Red Poppy Kit: These red poppies come with a .25oz bag of frit. This way you can add that bit of dimension in the center like poppies have. I like to tack fuse these to keep the center bumpy and not lose the outer design of the petal.

White Poppy Kit:
Like the red, these red poppies come with a .25oz bag of frit. This way you can add that bit of dimension in the center like poppies have. I like to tack fuse these to keep the center bumpy and not lose the outer design of the petal.

Little White Wall Flower.
This sweet flower has been a staple millefiori in my shop for some time now. They go with everything. They are great tack fused to fully fused. I used one little nibble as an undersea element this week and it was perfect (more to come on that next week)

Multi-size Gorgeous Green Leaves.
Another murrini that is in my shop quite frequently. Your package will have sized that range from tiny to large and lots inbetween. Perfect to lots of different scenes.

Orange and Black Dotted Daisy.
This murrini is bold and feisty! Perfect tacked or fully fused. It's really fun to play with and just seemed perfect for this week's collection.

Pink Daisies.
Pink? Yep...I had a friend who let go of some her her old Oceanside Pink Wispy sheet glass so I was able to create these. More to come in the next few weeks. Thanks, Emily, for sharing with me. Tack to full fuse. They are simply beautiful.

Red Daisies
. These cuties will have a unique center. I tried to get as big of a variety in each package as possible. Some centers will be all yellow, some all red and some with a mix. They are F-U-N!

Vanilla Cream Daisies
. Like the Red Daisies, these, too have a unique center. Some all black, some all white, some all yellow and some mixed with all three! I've been very happy with this somewhat new design and there will be more to come in the future! Note, the Vanilla Cream is encased in clear, so there should be no reactions coming from around the murrini, but if you were to fuse on say a blue transparent glass and looked from the underneath, you might see some reactions. FYI

Vanilla Cream Leaves
. These are on the smaller side and have a dainty feel. The viens are black and these are best at a tack fuse. They are not encased in clear, so they may react with some blues if you fuse them deeply (full fuse) on some colors. FYI.

Yellow Blossoms.
Similar to the Little White Wall Flower, this basic blossom has red dots at near the black center. Again...a perfect fit for this week's collection.

Over Christmas break I chatted with Mike our torchworking bail genius and I asked him to make me a new bail. This time an OPEN bail. One we can design on the inside like a mosaic. He also came up with a little tack bail. I messed around with it to see how we as fusers could use it and I'm SO exited about it's possibilities. The Open Bail Designs and The Tack Fuse Bail Tutorials can now be found under the tips/tutorials dropdown menu!

Hints on the Horizon: Next week will be a bit crittery! Fish kits, Critter eyes, more daisies, Bees with Wings, Butterflies, a new Willy Worm kit and more!
