What a fun addition to your fused glass projects! In past bee kits, I have had the head on the smaller side to work with the pointed tip of the bee. This time, I have put larger heads in the packages so it can be used at the ROUNDED end of the bee, like so many of you were already doing! The heads should be snipped thin, like a hockey puck, so it sits flat on your project. 😉
Kits will be sold by bee body size/weight.
.9+ - 1oz. Itty Bitty Bee Kits: 5-6 bee bodies, 10-12 wings, 5-6 bee heads
.9+ - 1oz. Larger Bee Kits: 2 bee bodies, 4 wings, 2 bee heads
My choice would be wheeled nippers on all parts of the bee. It is best to Tack Fuse these for an "as-is" look, however a fully fused version is below for you to see.
These murrini were hand-pulled by me in my glass shop’s vitrigraph kiln, annealed and tested. See dime for size reference. They were photographed in the best lighting possible to show accurate colors (however all computer monitors render colors differently). I use Oceanside fusible glass unless specified in the listing. COE 96.
Once received, the 2-inch long canes can be snipped as thick or thin as you’d like. If snipped into 3mm chips, you will get approximately 15 pieces per cane. Tack fused the bees will remain as-is in appearance, however a full fuse will cause them to really spread out. A test tiles are recommended to confirm results from temperatures in your kiln.
Feel free to contact me with questions either before or after purchase. I’m always happy to help!
