The Nativity
Please read my June 5, 2026 blog for full instructions on the Nativity Kit.

This kit will come in two packages and has 19 full canes and 1 half cane.

Mary (2 canes)
Joseph (2 canes)
Baby Jesus (the half cane)
Shepherd (2 canes)
Sheep (2 canes)
3 Wise Men (6 canes)
Bethlehem Star (1 cane)
Angel (4 canes)

I recommend a light tack fuse for this mix. The Star can be fully fused, but the other canes have outer shapes that are best lightly tacked to keep the design intact. You can get 16 pieces from each cane, which will give you 16 nativities. I recommend snipping them doing the "Half in Half" technique. See this technique demonstrated in the "Tips and Tutorials" section of my website. Snip the full cane in half, then those halves in half, then those halves in half and then halves once more.

This year, each person will receive an extra scrap Mary Body (shown below) for practice.

The above images are how I snipped Mary’s body into 16 pieces. This way the sizes will be more predictable and uniform.

Baby Jesus comes as a HALF cane. The above image shows how to snip him into 16 pieces. Please see my June 5, 2026 Blog to see how the pieces fit together and how to snip Baby Jesus into 16 pieces, which isthe white HALF cane.

These murrini were hand-pulled by me in my glass shop’s vitrigraph kiln, annealed and tested. See dime for size reference. They were photographed in the best lighting possible to show accurate colors (however all computer monitors render colors differently). I use Oceanside fusible glass unless specified in the listing. COE 96.

This listing is for 19 and 1/2 canes. Once received, the 2-inch long canes can be snipped into 16 equal parts to make 16 Nativities. See my “Half in Half” video, found in the tips/tutorials section of my website, to see how to easily snip in 16 even pieces.

Feel free to contact me with questions either before or after purchase. I’m always happy to help!
